Ling Ling
I purchased my Shih Tzu Ling Ling at the age of 10 weeks and immediately noticed that she had serious digestive problems, later diagnosed as IBS. The only diet that she could tolerate was grain-free, raw food containing pulverized bone. I sought the advise of several traditional and holistic veterinarians but I was never able to find someone who could successfully treat her condition. It's been almost three years since we found out that Felix has an enlarged heart. Our vet gave Felix medications for life and put him on canned "cardiac" food. But he had also suggested, prior to finding out Felix had heart problems, to put Felix on a raw diet. I began to research the internet for information about raw diets for dogs as this was new to me. So from what I've collectively read, I put Felix on a raw diet which included raw meat and chicken neck bones. I eventually stumbled onto Pat's website and she was the only one who was against feeling raw bones to dogs, and she was right! I contacted her through email and that was the beginning of our working together for Felix' health.
Felix has been on a raw diet for three years, and he loves it. He barks anxiously and excitedly every time I prepare his meals. When I think about how he loves his raw diet, it also makes me think about the times before I started to work with Pat, when I was still feeding him dry dog food. Felix used to look at the dry food and turn away, only to eat hours later when he was probably starving. I used to think he was just being picky. But now that I know more about dog nutrition, I realized he didn't want to eat his dry food because it was probably making him feel sick, and probably progressively worse as time went on.

*I thought I was dying. I truly did. I had so much edema it was difficult to bend my knees. I went up and down stairs like a toddler – one at a time. Only difference was that I was in excruciating pain while doing it. I was taking 7 prescriptions a day for high blood pressure, asthma and allergies. I was having bronchial spasms which left me gasping for oxygen. I was 100 lbs. overweight despite eating no processed foods and eating several small meals per day. I had been to countless doctors. All agreed that my edema was a result of my meds – however, I could not live without them. Vicious cycle.
